UNABFaculty Positions at the Center for Transportation and Logistics. Faculty of Engineering, Andrés Bello University, Chile.
The Faculty of Engineering at the Andrés Bello University in Santiago, Chile, is seeking applicants for full-time positions at the Center for Transportation and Logistics (http://cli.unab.cl/). The mission of this Center is to support the efficient and sustainable development of transport and logistics in Chile through the generation and dissemination of knowledge, and the integration of relevant actors. The Center is sustained on three main labs: Technological Validation Lab, Megacity and Logistics Lab-Santiago, and Emergency and Natural Disasters Lab.
Technological Validation Lab. The laboratory is focused on the validation and dissemination of technologies, components, and management tools that demonstrate the energy consumption reduction in transport through different field trials. This is accomplished through a close relationship with transport companies, freight transfer nodes, suppliers, and various public institutions.
The Megacity Logistics Lab-Santiago is a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Andrés Bello and the MIT Megacity Logistics Lab (http://megacitylab.mit.edu/). The objective of this lab is to reduce congestion and pollution, increase mobility while improving the supply of goods, services, and quality of life of the citizens by means of the understanding and transformation of the supply chains that operate within the Santiago urban area. The Emergency and Natural Disaster Logistics Lab is an interdisciplinary initiative, whose main objective is the understanding and improvement of logistics systems associated with the preparation and response to natural disasters through research, outreach, and education. Candidates may apply for any of the following areas:
1) Logistic and Supply Chain Management. Candidates must hold (or be currently ending studies towards) a Ph.D. degree in a field closely related to logistic, have demonstrated potential for excellence in research, and be committed to excellence in teaching. Applicants with expertise in supply chain management, network design, urban logistic, humanitarian logistics, and modeling and simulation of large-scale complex engineering systems are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must be able to develop and maintain an active research agenda, participate in interdisciplinary research teams, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
2) Distributed Systems. Candidates must hold (or be currently ending studies towards) a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, have demonstrated potential for excellence in research, and be committed to excellence in teaching. Topics to be developed by successful candidates include, but are not limited to, Big Data (data mining, information management, data fusion, data visualization, simulation of large-scale complex systems, environmental systems; etc.), system interoperability, and security management. Successful candidates must be able to maintain an active research agenda, contribute to high-quality teaching, definition/coordination of research projects, and application for national and international funding.
It is important to note that applicants may (and is expected that) contribute to the different research areas, and have a good working knowledge of Spanish.
Competitive salaries according to the position and the qualifications of the candidates will be offered. Reasonable relocation expenses are considered for candidates not currently residing in Chile.
